The Harz is a spectacular mountain range in Germany, where you can experience a natural camping holiday with activities to match. From zipline to suspension bridge and cable car to musing around the campfire. Enjoy with your whole family in this still relatively unknown part of Germany, half an hour south of Hanover, where there are more surprisingly nice towns.

Swimming facilities at camping Lotje

Nearby your campsite in Hattorf am Harz you will find the public swimming pool where vacationers of all ages have fun in the clear blue water. Children have even more water fun in the Oder River: with gold prospecting, for example!

Nice small-scale campsite
Children quickly make contact due to small campsite
Dutch staff
Small-scale campsite
Saafari tents face south, so can get very hot
The ladies' showers remained cold
Highway next to the campsite
We had a great time. Many Dutch people, which made contact quick, the area is beautiful, although you have to drive half an hour to get anywhere. Nice campsite owners, also treated the children well.

A big disappointment
Safari tent
Area run down
Entrance area littered
No children's events, although they were announced
The site was run down and many things that should have been there according to the website were not there. Some of the sanitary facilities were very outdated and there was rubbish and junk lying around in the entrance area. There were no animals or a children's program, as described on the website. The safari tent accommodation was very nice and clean, and I would definitely recommend it. The location is not very nice, the site is right on the Oder, but otherwise it is surrounded by roads and fields so that you can't get away on foot. All in all, the high price unfortunately does not correspond in any way to what is offered there, despite the very nice and well-kept safari tent.
